To assist getting your date booked before its gone, the following information is required.

We are a Venue and bar hire only, Our preferred caterers provide our customers with a wide range of catering options for functions. Weddings, Corporate, Birthday, Engagements, Christmas, Funeral catering and everything in between. They have professional teams that work with us to help make your wedding or function run seamlessly.

So… If you are looking for a high quality, dependable caterers for your event, look no further than them. They know our building, are industry experts in providing menus full of culinary flair. They cater for all types of dietary requirements, including allergies, intolerances, religious restrictions as well as vegetarians and vegans. They have crafted what we believe to be exciting menu options that suit the Takahe building vibe.


Note:  We do have other caterer options, please speak to us, If you have a non-preferred Caterer that requires access to our kitchens to prepare, please again speak to us first.

Garden Ceremony

Add an afternoon ceremony in the garden for $500 which includes Garden application to close for public/cafe access, standard chairs and Archway set up.

Smaller Wedding Ceremony and/or Reception?

We have some great spaces. Our Main Grand Entrance Area/Foyer or Garden is perfect for that intimate wedding ceremony, The Garden Room, Dungeon Bar and of course the beautiful walled romantic garden can also be booked separately for a reception afterward.

  • Sunday to Thursday –  Main Grand Entrance Ceremony (or Garden)
    • 3 hours max – 9am and 1pm slots
    • @ $400
    • non-catered, non decorated ceremony only (minimum setup)
  • Sunday to Thursday –  Evening Downstairs Dungeon Bar
      • Ideal for a Non seated Cocktail Style “Walk n Fork” Reception
      • Evening Reception only (No Ceremony).
      • Available from 4pm to midnight
      • Hire from $1000

Frequently Asked Questions

How many guests can you host?

We can host the following.

  • Upstairs: 120 seated comfortably.
  • 115+ If a cocktail affair.
  • 70 in downstairs bar and garden room in a cocktail “Walk n fork” style non seated setting.
  • 250+ in garden using marquee.

Do you have a wet weather option?

Yes we do. if on the odd chance it rains on your special day, we do have space upstairs for a ceremony. we monitor the weather and have plans if weather changes.

Do you have space for a DJ, Band, Photo Booth, Microphone, Video etc?

Yes we do. there are a few options available for set up. Near the bar, in the centre room or in the larger main rear room.  Factor in amount of guests, we suggest working with us on a preferred layout. You do not require have a wooden dance floor, but we can assist you hiring one if do would like one. Majority of weddings do not need one. We also have a great selection of music on our sound system or you can plug in your own playlist (download).

  • We have a selection of disco lights
  • We have a Microphone and speaker
  • we have a microphone connected to our sound system too.
  • Photo Booth hire from $450
  • Optional Video projector screen.

Do you have a layout or seating plan of the building?

We have a 3D viewer and we can work with you to design your layout. We have rectangle and square tables as a basic. however if round tables are required, we can arrange them too. This depends on amount of guests and type of catering ordered.

Drinks & Bar, what are your drink options?

We are a licensed premises and we have a great selection of wine, beer and spirits. We can work with you to determine which beers and wines you like. We have an extensive list (which does change depending on season, year and supply). Beers/cider, a great selection of spirits and cocktails too. plus not forgetting low or non alcoholic options. We can work with you to provide: Welcome drinks, Ceremony drinks, Table service, Toast bubbles, Pass the port, plus other bar service options. To note:

  • There is a minimum bar (drinks) spend.
  • No BYO (we can arrange to source product).
  • Licensed hours based upon Restaurant usage.

What time do you close?

Majority of weddings and functions finish at midnight. if you need longer, then please state at time of booking.

Do you provide table cloths etc?

We have a variety of options available depending on the level of detail you would like. We or the caterer can assist/provide.

Decorations?

We have access to our normal decorations which are based upon our building setting.
